Budnik Finishes

Picking a shape and size for your ride is only a portion of the battle to build your perfect wheel. Which is why we here at Budnik Wheels try to provide you with a wide range of options to not only bring out the best in the wheel but in your entire build as well. Picking the right finish or combination of finishes can really bring your wheels to life.

Our most classic option, the Full Polish, is our standard. We put a lot of care into getting the cleanest reflection we can, delivering a timeless finish that is sure to catch attention. Hours of work at our polishing lathes with hand

For those who like a more industrial look we provide a Hand Brushed finish. This finish comes out matte with a slight texture which looks more akin to the raw machined aluminum.

Looking for great colors and a rich, matte finish? Our Ceramic Coat finish has become very popular. This ceramic coating is the same stuff that is commonly used on exhaust headers, a very thin, durable, and high tech coating. See the section below for more details.

Ceramic Coat Options

Our coatings are a selection of Cerakote coatings which provide a great layer of protection without sacrificing look and color. Cerakote is an industry leader in ceramic coatings whose applications range from hobbyist equipment: fishing, cycling, archery, etc. to precision industries such as aerospace, medical devices, and the oil & gas industry where performance is mandatory.

If you wish to preview colors prior to purchasing, Cerakote offers color samples if you pay for shipping. Our colors and the associated color codes are as follows: Silver (C-7700), Turbine (C-124), Charcoal (C-129), Basalt (C-111), Black ( ), Titanium (C-105), and Bronze (C-148).

We occasionally provide custom painting to match a color sample and paint code and powder coating is also available. However this service is costly and can cause large delays due to the availability of the coat and our applicators. Should you wish to have a custom finish done please consider reaching out to us.

Finish Combinations

Between polishing, brushing, and ceramic coating choosing your finish can be hard enough as is. However one option is not nearly enough. Whether you want the wheel center coated and the outer lip polished or even just the pockets of the wheel we can do it.

Combinations of finishes are quite common and really bring some of our wheels to life. On our order form you'll notice there is a plethora of options for your finish, on the wheel center alone the following options are available. Our combination finishes are chosen via the options that look like "Coated Pockets / Polished Face" with the pocket option and face options interchangeable with our various different finish options.

Building Your Budnik Finish

After deciding your design, size, backspace and build of your wheels its time to add the final touches. It all begins with your Wheel Color Selection. Should you plan to have a fully polished wheel all the options should already be selected, just double check everything is selected polish and you are good to go. Otherwise follow the steps below.

This selection will determine the base color to be applied to your wheels. If you want a brushed or coated finish select your desired base finish here. Next we will select the finish applied to the outer rim.

This selection allows you to choose the application for your rim. You will notice that the polished and brushed rim selections are always available. Should you want the outer lip coated as well select the coated rim option for your wheel diameter range and we will apply the color selected from the first step. Now it is time to choose the application for the wheel center.

The Center Application option will apply only to the wheel center which is welded into the outer rim. From here we can select a polished, brushed, coated, or combination finish. For reference, our Tungsten-SKO with titanium pockets is shown here. The applicable option for this wheel would be "Coated Pockets/Polished Face". The pocket option on our wheels pertains to most recessed areas of the wheel also sometimes called the "webbing" or "pockets", whereas the face is the surface left from our center prior to milling the wheel or otherwise called the top of the center. Lastly, the center cap need our attention to bring the whole thing together.

The center cap has a more limited selection of color combinations but fundamentally the selection works the same. For the combination selections we typically apply the first listed option to the face or top of the cap and the second option after the "/" to the sides of the caps if available. Note that combination finishes are not available on our smooth standard caps.

If for whatever reason you need additional detail applied to your wheels please select the "Notes:" option in the special instructions field and let us know what you need. We will try to accommodate as best we can but if you are unsure check with us beforehand.
